NAMING OF THE PARISH: Last week, the Dover Area Task Force update included the choices we have been provided for the name of the soon to be newly formed parish of Dover, made up of the merged communities of St Charles, St Joseph, St Mary and the Mission Chapel of the Nativity. The three names we have been provided are choices that reflect the charisms and history of our current communities. 1.) The Parish of the Assumption 2.) The Parish of the Incarnation 3.) The Parish of the Divine Word Each of these names is an attempt to bring to the new parish a reflection of the work, history and identities of the individual merging communities. In a few weeks, we will host an opportunity for everyone to participate in the selecting the name of our merged parish. The weekend of May 16 & 17th is our target date for the selecting our name. At each of the weekend Masses, at all the churches, each person present will be given an opportunity to participate in the name selection. We hope that you will take the opportunity to share in the naming of our parish community under one of the three name choices provided us. WEEKDAY MASS SCHEDULE: A need that requires immediate attention is the celebration of weekday Masses. During Lent, we attempted to keep the regular schedules of 7AM & 12:05PM at St Mary, as well as the 8AM at St Joseph. We were able to accomplish this because of the short term availability of Fr Joseph and Fr Ed. Our sincere thanks to them for helping us keep those practices in place. With Easter Monday however, we return to the 8AM Mass. The TEMPORARY SCHEDULE for weekday Masses will be as follows: 8AM Monday and Wednesday at St Joseph; 8AM Tuesday and Thursday at St Mary. This temporary schedule will be replaced by a regular schedule once the Task Force has completed it work in developing an over all Mass schedule for the merged parish that includes weekday and weekends. Before that can be accomplished, there is consultation with the parish councils that needs to occur. In the interim, we will observe this temporary weekday schedule. Watch the bulletin each week for further updates, news and requests for your participation. Together we will establish a new community based on a foundation that is the creation of us all. One that will continue the faith, prayer and gift of Eucharist that has been handed down to us from generations past, with ourselves being ready to hand it on to generations yet to come. - Fr Marc |
